Traumatic brain injuries (TBI) can permanently change one’s life. Often called the “silent epidemic”, many acute and chronic deficits resulting from this type of injury are often not obvious to others. TBI in a moderate to severe form is a major cause of injury-induced death and disability. In fact, the CDC reports that 5.3 million people live with disabilities due to a traumatic brain injury in the U.S.

Brain injuries can drastically change an individual’s personality and impact their cognitive abilities. It also puts immense strain and stress on relationships when loved ones are placed into the role of caregiver rather than that of a son, daughter or spouse.
